StoragePal.AI
Privacy Policy
StoragePal.AI is built to need as little of your information as possible. This page explains exactly what the app collects, what it sends off your device, and what it never touches.
Effective August 26, 202601The short version
StoragePal.AI has no accounts and no sign-up. We never ask for your name, email address, or phone number. Your scans and your photos live on your iPhone, not on our servers.
The one thing that leaves your device is the photo you choose to scan, which is sent to a third-party AI provider — Google, OpenAI, or Anthropic — to be analysed so the app can tell you what it sees. The app asks for your agreement before the first scan is ever sent. Nothing else is collected, and nothing is ever sold.
02What we collect
Photos you scan. When you take a photo in the app, it is resized and re-encoded on your iPhone, then sent over an encrypted connection to a third-party AI provider — Google (Gemini), OpenAI (GPT), or Anthropic (Claude) — which returns a list of the items it recognised. Whichever provider is available answers the request; the photo goes to one of them per scan. Re-encoding drops the metadata your camera normally attaches, including GPS location, so the image that leaves your device does not carry where or when it was taken.
Your scan history. Scan photos, item lists, bin counts, room labels, and any accuracy feedback you give are saved on your device only. We cannot see this data and it is never uploaded.
Subscription status. If you subscribe, our payments partner gives us an anonymous identifier and whether your subscription is active. That is what unlocks Pro features.
What we never collect. No name, email, phone number, contacts, location, health data, or advertising identifiers. There are no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the app.
03How your photos are handled
A scan photo is sent for analysis, processed to identify storable items, and returned as text. We do not build a profile from your photos, do not use them to train our own models, and do not keep a copy on our side once the scan is complete. Our AI providers process the image to answer that single request under their API terms and do not retain it to train their models.
Because this sends an image off your device, the app explains it and asks you to agree before your first scan. If you decline, no photo is transmitted and the rest of the app keeps working.
The camera is only ever active while you are on the scan screen. The app has no access to your photo library — it cannot browse, read, or import your existing pictures.
Please avoid scanning documents, screens, or anything showing personal or financial information. The app is built to recognise boxes, tools, toys, and household goods, and there is no reason to point it at anything sensitive.
04Who we share data with
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. We rely on a small number of service providers to make the app work:
- Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic — one of these receives the scan photo in order to identify the items in it. No other information about you is sent with it.
- RevenueCat — manages subscription status on our behalf.
- Apple — processes every payment. We never see or handle your card details.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, which for a device-local app like this one means there is very little to disclose.
05Your data, your control
Because your scans are stored on your device, you control them directly. Delete an individual scan from the History tab, and it is gone along with its photo. Delete the app, and everything it ever stored goes with it.
You can revoke camera access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera. The rest of the app keeps working; you just will not be able to take new scans.
If you are covered by the GDPR, the CCPA, or a similar law, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Since we hold no account data about you, there is generally nothing for us to return or erase — but write to us and we will help you confirm that.
06Children
StoragePal.AI is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will address it.
07Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects how your information is handled, we will update the effective date above and, where the change is significant, note it in the app. Continuing to use StoragePal.AI after an update means you accept the revised policy.
